Discover the hidden secrets of Moroccan & Berber culture driving off-road with me in the breathtaking Sahara Desert and the High Atlas Mountains. And many other cities.
Day 1: Zagora Desert – Ouarzazate Ait Ben Haddou – Marrakech
The first day of 2 days desert tour from Marrakech to Zagora. After breakfast, at morning departure from your hote/riad in Marrakech through the High atlas mountains and the famous Tizi N’Tichka (2260m) from these mountains, the view of the valleys and the Berber villages perched on the sides of mountains, sometimes barely distinguishable from mountains themselves, are spectacular. After crossing the pass, it continues to fall until finally you reach Ouarzazate, where you stop for lunch. From there you cross another pass smaller, Tizi N’Tinfifite, before reaching the Valley Dra’a to Agdez. We go along the path of the ancient caravans between the mountains and the river, passing through many villages and gardens so you can get a better idea of the way of life along the oasis. You then come to Zagora desert, where you will have and take a camel ride to watch the wonderful view of sunset and dinner in the dunes at the camp of nomad tents where you will spend the first night in 2 days tour from Marrakech to Zagora.
Day 2: Zagora Desert – Ouarzazate Ait Ben Haddou – Marrakech
The next day of 2 days from Marrakech to Zagora. If you get up early enough to see the wonderful view of sunrise, you will be rewarded by the beautiful play of shadows on the sand dunes. After breakfast and take shower in berber camp you will return to the north, taking another short path. From Ouarzazate, you leave the main road to Marrakech to reach the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ait Ben Haddou (declared World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1986). This Kasbah, the most famous of Morocco, was used as a backdrop for many Hollywood blockbusters and has been one of the most important strongholds on the ancient caravan routes of Salt, where traders brought slaves, gold, ivory and salt from the sub – Saharan Africa to Marrakech and beyond. From there, continue along the new road to Telouet Kasbah, which belonged to the Lords of the Atlas, the family El-Glaoui, and now lies in ruins after the last Pasha fled the country after the departure of the French. The return in Marrakesh is located along the main road, which atraversa many Berber villages along the river crossed the mountains. Sometimes you go down in the valleys along the river, lined with oleander and fruit trees. The gardens are full of olives, walnuts, pomegranates, apples, pears and quinces. Berber women and children take care of goats and sheep and go up even the steepest slopes in search of fodder and firewood. We arrive in Marrakech in the early evening. End of our 2 days desert tour from Marrakech to Zagora service.
